Minister Knight’s Response (2008-05-29)

Previously, a copy of an email to Alberta Energy Minister Mel Knight was posted to this blog.  In it, the case for making petroleum well identification information freely available to the general public was outlined.  In addition, a description was provided of the frustrating, fruitless discussions with the ERCB to obtain this information.  The Minister’s written response can be found here, or by clicking the PDF icon below.

What’s particularly interesting about this letter is its virtually verbatim restatement of the position outlined by the ERCB in the last discussion with them back on 2008-04-18.  What was sought from Minister Knight was leadership in the matter.  Instead, it seems as though he has looked down the chain of command for help in crafting his response.  This is a disappointing outcome, to say the least.

As always, your comments and questions are welcome and encouraged, and thank you for your interest and support.Click here for PDF version.
